Mallory Slyder
My name is Mallory Slyder.
I grew up in a household where athletics were an integral part of life. Both of my parents were coaches, and I spent 90% of my time in the gym, always with a different ball in hand. I went on to play competitive volleyball for five years and the intensity of collegiate athletics took its toll on me physically and mentally. I discovered yoga online where I developed a consistent home practice to work through the physical aches and pains I acquired during volleyball. I quickly discovered that although yoga has the ability to heal the physical body, that is only a small element of its metamorphic power. After five years of practice, it is yoga’s effects on my spiritual and mental health that have me coming back to the mat everyday.
When I moved to Tahoe in 2018 I felt a calling to deepen my practice and decided to move my home flow to the studio. I found Omni and fell in love with the diversity of teachers and supportive community. I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training through Soulpreneur Yoga at Omni last fall and have since begun my journey as a teacher. I teach a vinyasa style class, reminding yogis that in connecting the mind, breath, and body we learn how to live more presently and integrate the spiritual practice as a living practice.
